FRIDAY:
Set off for Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) at 8am...reached there and we were given bedsheets and pillow cases to do up our beds then we went down to the hall on the 2nd level to have our sessions. Mrs Tay briefed us on the objectives of the camp and and rules and we began our sessions.
SESSION 1:
This was quite lame. Mrs Tan Aye Leng was talking a bout diamonds ("The more facets a diamond has the better it is) she gave us this worksheet with a drawing of a diamond (from the top) and in the outer most ring write 6 things you hope to achieve, next one right 6 incidents which were like turning points in your life, next one write down 6 things you value the most, last of all write down your motto. Got a few people to read it out.
SESSION 2:
Exchange. Sat in concentric circles, then ring 2 and 4 rotate around. The people in the 2 and 4 ring tell the person opposite them in the 1st and 3rd ring, (I want your ______(place quality here) and I will give you my _______(place quality) and everytime you give or take some quality, you have to give some sort of reason. It went rather well, some of us discovered stuff about ourselves we never knew and our strength and weaknesses.
Went for lunch. Best catered lunch I ever had. I bet none of the other classes could have better food than we did. So I shall ow tell you what we had for lunch. Spaghetti, broccoli with mushrooms and mixed vegetables, potato salad and apple crumble pie. Just makes you hungry. It was delicious too, thanks to Sarah.
SESSION 3:
Photo analysis. This was like so frickin' sob fest (yes, yes, I cried too). Mrs Tan laid out some old black and white pictures. Made us walk around and look at all of them. Then we pick one that we like. If you like the same pic as your friend then sit with her. 75% of everyone who went up said a few words and then broke into tears right there in front of the entire class and we always had people running up ti hug and comfort...was sweet in a way. Mrs Tay brought 6 boxes of tissue to prepare for the event too. Was a good session. Made us realise that we weren't all what we seem to be. We all have our sorrows, problems and worries and stuff, nice to know you're not alone .
SESSION 4:
Murderer. I think some of us played it before but well. We were each given a clue on a strip of paper, we weren't allowed to read each other's clues but we can read it out. We were supposed to guess the murderer, the place of the murder, the time, the motive and weapon and my group won...not bad.
Went out to eat dinner at Holland V, I mean where else can we go. I went with Michelle, Han Ying, Wan Ling and Janice. I ate laksa...yum...haven't eaten that for a long time, but it turned out to be a bad idea...I had a horrible stomachace later on but it was nice to indulge for once...but it is fattening with all the coconut milk. After dinner went wandering aroung Holland. Ate ice-cream at KFC, and while we were walking and eating, suddenly Han Ying shouts "GAYGAYGAY!!!" and we all turn around... and yeah
true enough they were looking at...gays. Yeah...gays...yeah...I still find that stupid shout so funny. Han Ying was saying that Wanling had never seen gays before so she wanted to point it out to her. Saw a chinese (teochew?) puppet show (not that we understood a single word of it.) then followed Mrs Tay and Mrs Tan for a while then decided to head back to FMM. When we got there I found out how ear peircing girls screams are in and enclosed corridor.
We had talentime later. Cocktail of limbo, nursery rhymes, songs, dances and lots of cheering (pan wei bo, wo men yong yuan zhi chi ni. Niu nai....all the chinese songs, so frustrating. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!)
We then went to bath...lalala...found out I didn't have my towel, I forgot to bring my sandals to camp as well. Then had supper, went up to the dorms to play card games. I have FINALLY learned how to play bridge, not that good, but anyone wanna play with me next time??? Any takers??? Played until 2am the went to sleep.

SATURDAY:
Woke up at 7am had breakfast...lalalala....then wash up went to the hall for sessions.
SESSION 5:
Used newspaper to create a tower, but not allowed to talk...ours stood but lacked in the height area. Rae Wen's turned out to be a dead girl...and yeah it well. Jeanette's was fine...until someone knocked it...the rest just never came up. Luu's was the best (as in it was the tallest)...what else can I say, she's just really good at this shit.
We had to clear up the place, toilets and dorms, the hall as well. Bring down all our bedsheets and stuff. Went to the canteen, had a little auction, giving away food stuff. Had 'yum seng' and drank fruit wine, then we all got to read our 'Fuzzy Wuzzies' and then we all went home. I sat a 10 min ride home and it was good to be home....no one was in...nice and peaceful. Took a bath, good bath, and watched the first disc of 'Love Actually" good movie so far and went to sleep. Woke up at 1630 and changed to go for my first Chinese tuition lesson of the year.
2000 finished tuition and sat the one hour long bus ride home...why the hell does she have to live in CHINATOWN....of all places that HORRID place aaaaaaaaah!!! SO much red I tell you, I can't stand red!!! There was this crazy guy though, at one of the bus stops he walked to the front of the bus and started creaming and shouting st the bus making interesting gestures(which I shall not elaborate on) and flailing his arms in...how shall I put this...an angry fashion? Caused a few raised eyebrows and now I am here. Longest entry I have ever written so far, computer better not crap up if it does I'll just scream and through the whole damn thing on the floor. I shall now go watch Leonardo DiCaprio (whatever happened to him huh?) present the best picture award to Peter Jackson and then finish watching 'Love Actually' and bring myself to church tomorrow.

Good evening, to everyone out there. Well it's finally Tuesday, going for self-awareness tomorrow...sad to day I can't go for orientation, saw the sec 1s marching...kinda glad I won't be there too.

Today's chemistry was relaxing. Mrs Tay had to leave for the interview thingie halfway (with Sarah counting out loud for Mrs Tay, 5mins....4mins...). We were supposed to load this software and go through the cd so we can do the worksheet. But later we found out that the mouse wasn't working...tried many ways to work it but to no avail...not that it's something we'd lament about, so for 1 hour, Debora and me spent it singing songs at the back of the class...I shall put an exerpt at the end.
da di da
I was falling asleep in chemistry, dozed of a couple of times..lucky I'm at the back...Mrs Tay used the damn PC period...why does she have to have so many periods...she ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS uses it for fer frickin' chem lessons. Don't she know that Pastoral Care is of great importance as well. Now there's a downright lie.
Emath. Well as usual...loci...did I ever mention how much I HATE loci. I mean I don't mind constructing and all that, put me in a room and give me ______(put a number here) construction sums and I'll happily, wrong, crazily do them ALL for you...I'm serious, but they just HAD to make us shade. All the fuckin' inequality signs...I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!!
Physics SPA was rather easy, just had to design an experiment to determine the effect a load had on the time taken for the plasticine to snap when you hang the weight on it. I know it sounds spastic..but you gotta make do with what you got. At least I didn't have to do skill 2 & 3 (although I will eventually), too many wires...confusing for my small brain. After that saw the sec 1s and Naomi training with the PSs...some of them are definitely going to get into trouble with Naomi tomorrow. Some sec 1s are hopeless at remebering stuff (I know I sound mean...but I'm being frank) LOL. Went to choose a song for 'Talentime(sp?)' tomorrow.
lalalala
Now I am home packed all my stuff for tomorrow...I just LOVE my class-T...the gold so pretty...(now I sound bimbotic).

As promised an exerpt of the song:

Potong Bebek (modified version)

Potong bebek bebek angsa di kuali, kwek kwek kwek
Nona Nona minta dansa empat kali, kwek kwek kwek
Sorong kiri, sorong kanan
Potong Kiri, potong kanan
Se bebek kwek! Papotong-potong.

To summarise the entire thing...it's about killing (well actually cutting up a duck...but what's the difference!?!?!?) a duck...as for the translation...I'm too lazy to type it out...I am off for self-awareness tomorrow..so until then tata...I shall now entertain myself with some AMI and Jiang Han...that song is VERY addictive!!! (lalalala)

Wednesday, January 28, 2004

Well I'm on rather late today, if you know what I mean..I usually am on at 9+. Anyway, today wasn't so bad...depite the lessons were all kinda horrible, and yeah I passed my chinese...but not very well. You get some, you lose some. PE was fun today, although it wasn't very physical. Miss Liem (pronounced 'Lim') didn't come, so Carmen got us to do two rounds around the entire school, and I mean the entire school and from St Gab's to St Raphael's, then did some stretching, and we did what we liked. For me, I just sat down and did some catching up with Michelle and Alex. Talked about computer games, sounds like a bunch of nerds discussing a chess game. Not that I have anything against chess.

Later on, had practical after school and some how, today's titration seemed better than the last times. Everything went smoothly, except the mole calculations...I'm absolutely hopeless at that...I need HELP!!! Had some total defence training and then went home...ethel had so damn nice cookies too. Got home, supposed to have tuition but it got cancelled, so I got stuck with cooking dinner. Well I didn't exactly cook everything I just kinda heated up the vegetable, but I DID cook the egg myself. Just finished dinner, so I'll go finish up my Amath...I got lost in the last sum I was doing...then I'll go watch AMI and laugh at the TV as "singers" show off their "talent" for 'killing people softly with their songs'...I better stop, gotta go toss 'yu sheng', 7th day of CNY so Good Night.

Happy Anniversary to my 'rents and to my cousin Kong Yew!

Tuesday, January 27, 2004

Well today's tuesday...yeah only the second day of the week. Had chinese test, I definitely blew that one. I mean what is up...3 days out of 5 I have chinese as a first period...that just suuuuuuuuucks. Had physics later on, spent the entire lesson (almost the entire lesson) talking about ONE of her maids and how she doze off when she(the maid) was ironing. She said that her maid would burn at least one piece pf clothing everyday and another maid who had this obsession with cleaning the fridge as it acted as some sort of makeshift air-conditioning.

English was the most fun, if you can call it fun, today. The best thing that every happened, I regained so much of my energy in the one hour. I'm sure you can guess what I did. (let's you make a guess) I'll tell you anyway, I spent it sleeping at my desk. Yes, Mrs Alex had to run off to do some interview thingie, but before that she gave us some passage to read...yeah we all take one hour and ten minutes to read a three page essay. I was in no mood to read and neither was I interested in joining the "choir" in the corner, who were trying to choose a song for the 'Talentime' for our sefl-awareness. Something tells me I should have spent it studying Bio. Had bio test, and then went on to talk about DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid..hooray I can spell...I think) and mutations...lalalaa...no sex involved this time though BUT it was still fun.

Total Defence was productive today I must say...turned out better than I expected...then walked to the bus-stop with erika, ethel, nicole and perry. Well need to go study for geography tomorrow, must remember to tell Miss Wan (sp?) about tomorrow's training. It's times like this I hate my brains.

Monday, January 26, 2004

Well shouldn't be on here, got tests tomorrow. Today was fairly okay, had some boring chem lesson with Mrs Tay. She went through our practical paper which I passed by half a mark LOL.

The most enjoyable lesson today: Bio. In a rather sick way actually.
The topic today was supposed to be about 'Natural Selection' but we somehow got into the topic of mutations and Sarah, being Sarah, asked Mdm Ismiralda whether Bisexuals are mutations and then Mdm Ismiralda went on to ask about the "nature vs nurture" deal. Whether they were born like that or whether it was because of the environment. Sarah then went on to tell the class about her having met a transvestite in some store and then Mdm Ismiralda went on to tell us that we can find a lot of transvestites, bis, homosexuals and all that in Changi and some other weird place in Singapore. Sarah then inquired further as to how they actually got it on since they don't really the appropriate 'tools' (I am so grossing you out am I? LMAO) to do it. Mdm Ismiralda then went onto say that some of them go for operations to fix that...little problem. She also commented to say that some, or rather many, transvestites actually walk sexier than normal women and how they look prettier, and dress better. Outside on the corridor all the people pass by hearing all the weird comments and answers giving us all those weird looks.

I'm supposed to be studying for SS tomorrow, now I'm feeling guilty, I;m such a sucker for things like this. Pathetic. Better go off now before I get carried away. I really miss those cousins of mine. No one to disturb me and join me in my world of sarcasm...tata.

PS: Thank you so much for the bakkwa Amanda, The Lady appreciates it very much and please NO MORE fairies.

I am finally back from dinner at the Club. I tell you it was so damn windy there, I mean out of the entire restaurant she had to choose to sit at the terrace and there the wind was blowing like there was no tomorrow, I was freezing during dinner, but then the chicken rice was nice. I tell you the sauce the chicken is soaked in is really good, I was drinking and drinking, and my mother gave me this shocked look from across the table. And because my mother wanted to go out to dinner I had to bring my stupid chinese book with me, have test on Tuesday, I looked like an absolute nerd walking around the place like that mumbling to myself.

After dinner we just sat at the table discussing about the past two nights, when I was sleeping in the same room as my aunts. About the chorus of snoring me and my sister experienced when sleeping in the same room as them, and my sister describing them as to what they sounded like *shivers*. I wanted to go home and study SS but my mom wanna go to Chinatown to see LIGHTS of all things LIGHTS?!?!! and Chinatown is positively creepy at night. We passed by this monument of some kind and these really big, discoloured red lanterns were hanging outside. The building was really old and the doors were like the kind that you see in those chinese serials set in the olden times. The lanterns were swaying rhythmically in the wind...sends shivers up your spines...especially since it was so dark out. This post makes me sound like a nerd I tell you, all the studying. Well gotta cram tomorrow for SS and GE. I really miss my cousins, first time in a long time. *sight* Need to go sleep now, school tomorrow and I've got a new bag, no more panic attacks and pins (YAHOO!).

The weather today? WET WET WET!!!!! Lucky I'm not out there now. Anyway, woke up at 0815 this morning, and wen to J8 to watch 'Peter Pan' with Ethel, Perry, Nicole and Erika. Wasn't quite what I expected. Peter and Wendy had too many co-ed moments, I mean they dance together, look at things together, stare at each other...what's up with that man, I mean it's a kids movie, be a bit discreet. Anyway, after the movie went to 'Food Junction' to eat, bought beef noodles and after that shared a bowl of (Erika take note) 'Sea Coconut' with Erika. Then went walkin' around J8. Stopped over at Sembawang Music...what can I say, saw so many noice CDs that I wanted to buy, and you have NO IDEA how it feels to have $50 in your pocket and NOT be able to spend it.

Erika went home and I then headed to Orchard with Perry and Ethel to meet up with my sisters and cousins. Went lookin' around Orchard for things for my cousins to buy. As usual it was raining, and the most unfortunate thing is my umbrella wasn't in the best of shape. Well, we walked from CK tang to Heeren, ate at 'Crepes and Creams'. There my cousin insisted that it was pronounced "cre-pees", and the ice-cream took damn long to come. Although it was fortunate that mine came first. Went to Robinsons to meet up with my mother and aunts arnd my cousins bought some stuff there. Went around Orchard some more and got wet a lot. I had an umbrella (if you can still call it one) but since my cousin is a whole head taller I still got really wet in the end. I tell you Singaporeans are damn weird. Here I am sharing an umbrella with my 23-year-old cousin and people along the road are just staring at us, givin' us this weird look...you can practically see the wrong wheels turning. I mean can't a girl and a guy shre an umbrella, why does it HAVE to seem that way, damn it. Keep your damn eyes to yourself.

Well gotta go eat dinner now, once again Erika I apologise, I didn't realise it was that bad, didn't seem so to me. I do wish for a little change in the weather, I agree with my cousin. The weather is pretty fucked up. LMAO.

Friday, January 23, 2004

I have now returned to sunny Singapore. Well not really sunny since it was raining just before. Anyway, cousins came at about two, talked a bit before they went out to do something and then whole family of ten went out to eat dinner at Johor.

Restaurant was quite empty when we first got there. Nice and quiet. We sat, and my parents started talking with my aunts while my cousins and sisters fiddled with our handphones. Then my mother decided to tell my family about the phone call that Erika made to my house...which was seriously embarrassing...I mean did she HAVE to tell them...now my whole family knows who she is...and they have taken to using the word 'cool'. Damn annoying that is. Well the food came and the talk ended...thank god...had the usual 'yu sheng' and then the lovely sharks' fin. It's rather ironic to think that I went for that ocean conservation course, and I am STILL eating sharks' fin. Well then the prawns came, and I was utterly disgusted by the way my father sucked the brains outta the prawn...bleah.

Well dinner ended and we made the rather long journey home. To my utter horror there was a traffic jam. So I was stuck in the car for about and hour and a half with my hyperactive two sisters in the back laughing at almost anything. Thankfully we got home on time and it's still possible for me to watch my 'Pirates of the Carribean' with my cousins before I go to sleep and wake up tomorrow to go to Bishan to meet Nicole, Perry, Ethel and Erika to go watch 'Peter Pan'. Tata for now.
CNY day 2:
Well, here I am it's 11am...and I am waiting for my relatives to arrive at my house. Whci I suppose will be happening in another 2 or 3 hours time. My mother is chasing all my sisters and I to clean up our room. I have to admit, I have too much stuff and too little space, add on my younger sister and it just get's even worse. Maybe I should throw out all my Newsweek, I don't know why I keep them, but I just feel bad throwing all 20+ of them out. I mean I paid...or rather my parents paid...$78 for that thing, so I'm really in a dilemma now. Yes...yes...gen is intimidated by a pile of magazines which are actually at her mercy to be thrown out. Well going out to watch 'Peter Pan' which is good, been longing to watch it. Well tata gotta go tidy up my room.

Thursday, January 22, 2004

Well...just got back from M'sia. I screwed up my last blog so here I am with a new one. Decided to do it on CNY day...more auspicious.

Okay, yesterday I spent 3 hours with my family in our yard pulling out weeds. You have absolutely NO idea how tall they were. After we pulled almost everything out and my dad mowed the grass, it was like a totally different view from afar. I could see patches of soil.

Today, I sat in the car for 3 and a half blinkin' hours trying to get into Johor. Along with my sisters, just trying to get across the damn causewya to go shopping. My mother claimed that she was gonna buy the whole of 'Giant'. As expected she didn't. We mostly bought snacks and all that stuff cause my aunts and cousins from my mother's side, are coming down tomorrow and then we went to 'Seasons' cafe to eat lunch. There was this absolutely weird guy there...maybe he was gay...probably metrosexual or something like that. When my mother asked for 1 chicken soup and 1 muchroom soup, he said "Chicken soup mai you" My mother somehow heard 'manure', how that came about I have no idea. Basically his attempts at speaking chinese were all screwed up leading my mother towards MORE strange (you don't wanna know) and out of this world ideas, due to her ailing hearing ability. After that we headed home, with all the shopping and stuff.

Weird chinese traditions I know of today:
-No buying shoes on CNY, why, well shoes in cantonese is said as 'hai' which
sounds a lot like sighing, and according to my mother you usually sigh when
you are in trouble, so no new shoes for me.
-No bathing, well I have no reason as to why for this one.
-Leaving the lights on throughout the night, I don't know why either.
-Throwing out the rubbish, I guess you could interpret this one for yourself.
-No washing clothes
-No cutting hair

Well can't think of anything more now, but I'll add on as I go. This CNY seems rather weird. I guess it's because it's on a smaller scale. I usually go back to see my countless numbers of aunts on my father's side and as well as the many annoying cousins who do nothing but scream and shout at each other and play their stupid gameboys (quite outdated I know) and fight over it. Did I mention I totally dislike kids, I mean they love to whine about almost everything, especially since most of my cousins from my father's side are all younger than me by at least 5 years. The good thing is that there a lot of aunts and uncles, hence more 'ang pow'. Sadly, won't see my 'Ah ma' (grandma on my father's sside) this year. Well, I will return.
